Desk Report: On behalf of the inauguration of the Padma Bridge and the annual mango festival, it was a little different for the workers of the Independent Apparels factory in Nasirabad. The celebrations and mango festival were held on 28 June at factory premises.

More than 2000 garment workers were present at the celebration ceremony where two hundred garment workers from South Bengal across the Padma worked in this factory.

The Mango festival is held every year in the readymade garment factory of Nasirabad in the city. Factory owner Abu Tayyab bought mangoes from the garden and distributed them among the factory workers. Each worker is given a certain amount of mango. This time also a truck of mangoes was brought from the garden.

It was decided to give three kg of mango to each of the nearly two thousand workers of the factory. But to commemorate the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, factory workers, including those on the other side of the Padma, named the festival ‘This year’s Mango Padma Bridge’.
