Rosin Exports Limited will build a state-of-the-art denim factory in Jamalpur Economic Zone with an investment of Tk280 crore, targeting the creation of around 3,000 jobs over the next five years.
Factory construction is scheduled to start in June.
On 11 March, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) and Rosin Exports Limited signed a land lease for five acres in the Jamalpur Economic Zone to set up the facility.
The company will produce denim tops, bottoms, and operate a denim washing plant.
SM Shahinuzzaman, managing director of Rosin Exports, told reporters that preparations are underway to train skilled workers locally.
The factory will initially employ 800 workers, increasing to 3,000 over five years.
Staff will be tested before recruitment, and the company will provide housing, sanitation, healthcare, and education support, including microfinance housing schemes. Employees completing 15 years may receive a house.
Shahinuzzaman added that in case any family member of employees fall into illness, the company will cover part of the hospital expenses, with the remainder repaid by workers in instalments. “Our goal is to ensure workers’ basic needs are met,” he said.
Beza executive member Saleh Ahmad said the project will boost exports and promote technology-driven industrialisation, adding that Beza will continue to provide a business-friendly environment and necessary support.
Rosin Exports, founded in 2005, operates a knitwear factory in Jamalpur with around 10,000 employees.
The new factory will produce various denim products, marking the company’s first investment in the Jamalpur Economic Zone.
Jamalpur Economic Zone, the first government economic zone in Mymensingh division, covers 436 acres and is expected to directly employ about 32,000 people.
Essential infrastructure – including gas connections, a 33/11 kV substation, administrative and dormitory buildings, groundwater reservoirs, and boundary walls – has been completed. Around 20 companies have signed lease agreements; three will start production soon, and nine are under construction
