SBCCI holds 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The Switzerland-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SBCCI) successfully convened its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 15 March 2025 at Hotel Sheraton, Banani, Dhaka.

The meeting commenced with an address by SBCCI President, Mr. Abdur Rashid, who extended a warm welcome to the Honourable Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Reto Renggli, along with esteemed SBCCI members. In his opening remarks, Mr. Rashid reflected on the prevailing political and economic landscape of Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in rebuilding the nation following a period of significant political transition. He reiterated SBCCI’s unwavering commitment to fostering bilateral trade between Switzerland and Bangladesh.

H.E. Mr. Renggli, addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, conveyed his best wishes to SBCCI and shared insights into Bangladesh’s economic potential and business opportunities. SBCCI is a family of 52 Swiss Affiliated Companies. He reaffirmed the Swiss Embassy’s willingness to collaborate with SBCCI on impactful initiatives, highlighting the strength and resilience of the Bangladeshi people in navigating recent transformations.

Following the Ambassador’s remarks, the Secretary General of SBCCI, Mr. Saad Omar Fahim, presented an overview of the Chamber’s annual activities and outlined strategic initiatives for the future. Subsequently, SBCCI Treasurer, Mr. Tarun Patwary, presented the Chamber’s annual financial report.

A key highlight of the AGM was the announcement of the newly elected Executive Committee (EC) declared by the Election Commissioner, Mr. Sheikh Nahar Mahmud.

The new Elected EC board consists of President-Mr. Abdur Rashid, Senior Vice President-Mr. Saiful Islam, Vice President-Mr. Tarun Patwary, Secretary General-Mr. Saad Omar Fahim, Treasurer-Mr. Iqbal Chowdhury.

Besides, in the SBCCI AGM, the other directors who have also been elected were Mr. Mohammad Abul Hasnat, Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan, Mr. Debabrata Roy Chowdhury, Mr. Julian A. Weber, Mr. Hedayet Ullah, Mr. Mark Heeb, Mr. Sontosh Chandra Nath, Mr. Md. Kabir Anwar, Mr. Harun-Ur Rashid. Besides, Swiss Embassy representatives, Mr. Alberto Giovanetti (Head of Political, Economic & Cultural Affairs), Mr. Khaled Chowdhury (Senior Political, Economic & Communication Officer), and SBCCI Coordinator Mr. Mohammad Mohi Uddin Bhuiyan also joined the event.

The meeting was ended with a vote of thanks by the President of SBCCI Mr. Abdur Rashid.
