Babylon Group, one of the leading ready-made garment exporters in Bangladesh, distributed scholarships to meritorious underprivileged students today, 27 November 2025, at its corporate office in Mirpur. At the same event, the annual literary magazine Babylon Kathokata was officially unveiled.

The scholarship distribution ceremony for the 11th batch of the Babylon Scholarship Project and the unveiling of the magazine were graced by eminent fiction writer Mr. Hasnat Abdul Hye as the Chief Guest. Internationally renowned fashion designer and entrepreneur Bibi Russell, and Dr. Mohammad Abbas Uddin Shayek, Associate Professor, Department of Dyes and Chemical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Textiles, attended as Special Guests. Directors of Babylon Group, representatives of globally recognized brands, officials from various garment-exporting organizations, Babylon Group officials, scholarship recipients, and their guardians were also present.

Since its inception in 1986 in the apparel export sector, Babylon Group has remained strongly committed to social responsibility. Every year, it undertakes various social initiatives such as winter clothing distribution, support for disaster-affected communities, cow-rearing programs to improve the economic condition of workers’ families, providing housing and construction materials, healthcare services through community clinics, regular blood donation programs, free medical camps, tree planting, low-cost sanitary napkin production and distribution for women and female workers, scholarship programs, and the publication of an annual literary magazine to promote workers’ creativity. All of these are ongoing CSR projects of the organization.
The Babylon Scholarship Program is one of the Group’s most significant CSR initiatives. Over the past 17 years, more than a thousand students have received scholarships through this project. The Group does not limit itself to financial support alone—it also provides regular guidance to help the scholarship recipients progress toward success. Many of these students are now serving as BUET faculty members, doctors, naval engineers, university teachers, and in various other important positions. Beginning in 2008 with only 28 students, the number has exceeded one thousand by 2025. This year, 68 students will receive financial grants for two years, which may be extended upon their admission to university.
Babylon Group’s CEO, Mr. Arif Bhuiyan, stated, “Education is not an opportunity—it is a right. We congratulate those who have earned this right through their merit. Babylon will extend full support to help them continue their journey forward.”
Chief Guest Mr. Hasnat Abdul Hye said, “Investment in education is the best investment for a nation, a family, and a country. Babylon’s initiative is not for financial gain—the true profit of this effort is the making of enlightened and virtuous human beings.” He described the scholarship recipients as the future of Bangladesh.
The Directors of Babylon Group congratulated the scholarship awardees and encouraged them to study well and grow into honest, skilled, and responsible individuals. They added, “Babylon will always stand beside those who continue their journey of excellence.”
