Seminar on “Application of Geotextiles in Bangladesh” Held at IEB

A seminar titled “Application of Geotextiles in Bangladesh”, organized by the Textile Engineering Division of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), was successfully held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Council Hall of IEB Headquarters, Ramna, Dhaka.

The event brought together a distinguished gathering of professionals, academicians, and industry experts to discuss the potential and practical implementation of geotextiles in the country’s development.

The Chief Guest of the seminar was Engineer Mohammad Shamim Akhtar, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The session was graced by Engineer Sheikh Al Amin, Vice President (HRD) of IEB, and Professor Dr. Engineer Md. Sabbir Mostafa Khan, Honorary General Secretary of IEB, as Special Guests.

The welcome address was delivered by Engineer Md. Saidur Rahman, Vice Chairman of the Textile Engineering Division. The seminar featured a keynote presentation by Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Haque, PhD (UK), Professor and Program Director of M.Sc. in Textile Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering, Daffodil International University.

The session was presided over by Engineer Mahiuddin Ahmed Selim, Chairman of the Textile Engineering Division, and moderated by Engineer Mostafa-e-Zaman (Selim), Secretary of the Textile Engineering Division.
