SGS celebrates 25 years of leadership in sustainable textile certification with the bluesign label

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is proud to mark the 25th anniversary of bluesign, its flagship brand in sustainable textile solutions and a key part of the Group’s sustainability portfolio.

Since 2000, bluesign has led the way in providing independent verification of the chemical management, environmental performance and resource efficiency in the textile industry. Its proprietary bluesign system enables the elimination by the manufacturers, retailers and brands of hazardous substances from the start of the manufacturing process, enabling safer production, cleaner chemistry and reduced environmental impact across the supply chain.

With over 900 partners worldwide, including leading brands, manufacturers and chemical suppliers, bluesign is a trusted benchmark for transparency, traceability and accountability. Backed by SGS’s global network and leadership in sustainability and digital trust, bluesign delivers practical, science-based solutions to the textile industry’s most urgent challenges.

To commemorate its 25th anniversary, bluesign will host a series of global events and expert panels celebrating key achievements and exploring the future of sustainable textiles.

With growing regulatory pressure and consumer demand for traceability and sustainable sourcing, bluesign is well-positioned to drive continued growth for SGS in the high-value sustainability segment. As part of Strategy 27 – “Accelerating growth, building trust”, SGS expects to generate at least CHF 600 million in additional sustainability-related revenue by 2027 compared to 2023.
