Zaastex Group has proudly inaugurated its first Fair Price & Nutrition Shop (Pusti Shop) at Space Sweater Ltd., marking a significant milestone in our journey toward worker well-being. This initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Auchan Foundation (France), in partnership with GAIN International and Direct Fresh, who share our vision of creating a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable RMG industry in Bangladesh.

Health and nutrition challenges are another pressing concern. Studies in 2025 reveal that garment workers often face micronutrient deficiencies, while overweight and obesity are simultaneously rising due to imbalanced diets. Even more worrying, the children of RMG workers are at risk, with nearly 20% under the age of five suffering from stunting, largely because their parents cannot access adequate nutrition or healthcare.

In this context, the Pusti Shop has been designed to provide real solutions. By offering high-quality groceries and essential food items at fair and affordable prices, the shop helps reduce workers’ daily expenses while ensuring access to nutritious choices. The convenience of having the shop within factory premises also saves time and transportation costs, allowing staff to focus more on their families and livelihoods. Beyond financial relief, this initiative contributes to better health, improved productivity, and enhanced morale, supporting the long-term sustainability of our workforce.

Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director, Syed Sadek Ahmed, said: “First of Zaastex Group at Space Sweater Ltd. has inaugurated a Fair Price & Nutrition Shop for workers and staff with support from Auchan Foundation, GAIN International, and Direct Fresh. Many thanks to Auchan Foundation (France) for their generous support and contribution towards Bangladesh’s RMG industry.”

This project is more than a welfare facility—it is a model for the entire garment sector. By combining fair pricing, nutrition awareness, and corporate responsibility, Zaastex Group is setting a new benchmark for worker well-being. We believe the Fair Price & Nutrition Shop will not only benefit our staff but also inspire other factories in Bangladesh to adopt similar programs, building a stronger and more resilient RMG industry for the future.
