Strengthen cooperation between BGMEA and the Brazilian Embassy to enhance Bangladesh’s apparel image and expand its footprint in Brazil market

A delegation from BGMEA comprising Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, and Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury met with Leonardo de Oliveira Jannuzzi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Brazil in Dhaka.

The meeting focused on strengthening trade ties between Bangladesh and Brazil and exploring collaboration in fashion innovation and sustainable waste management, including recycling of used apparel, fabric scraps, and industrial byproducts.

The delegation sought the Embassy’s support in identifying Brazilian apparel importers, retailers, and sourcing houses, and discussed market opportunities, trade barriers, and import regulations for apparel entering Brazil.

Both sides also explored potential collaboration and knowledge exchange in textile recycling and circular economy practices.

BGMEA proposed a delegation visit to Brazil to study best practices in sustainability and waste management in the textile sector.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen cooperation between BGMEA and the Brazilian Embassy to enhance Bangladesh’s apparel image and expand its footprint in Brazil market.
