We strongly condemn the brutal attack on Rafee Mahmud, Deputy Managing Director of Mahmud Jeans Limited, located in Kaliakair, Gazipur, by miscreants disguised as workers. We pray for his swift and full recovery. This attack is not only an assault on an individual but an attack on the entire industry. Such an attack on the entrepreneur has shocked every entrepreneurial family in this industry. This incident will not only discourage future entrepreneurs but also have a negative impact on the investment decisions of potential foreign investors.
On behalf of the business community, we demand that all perpetrators of this brutal act be brought to justice and all necessary actions be taken to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. We strongly urge the government to ensure the safety and security of all industries, including the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, which is the main export sector of Bangladesh.
Vested interests are trying to destabilize the economy, including the garment industry. These individuals must be identified and brought to justice through the proper application of the law. Exemplary punishment should be meted out to deter such actions.
The success of Bangladesh’s garment industry is the result of years of tireless dedication and hard work from both workers and entrepreneurs. As Bangladesh embarks on a new chapter in its development, it is crucial that the government ensures the protection of all stakeholders in the industry. This will safeguard the continued progress of the economy, including the vital garment sector. The future of this country will become uncertain if the protection of its industry is not ensured.
