On another hand, the COVID has seriously impacted major manufacturing hubs (China, India, and Italy), leading to major supply disorders. Textile industry is the heart of our economy. We have developed our industry a lot and there are so many remarkable developments we have already achieved i.e Green Industry, Compliance Factory, industry best practices etc. Team Textile Focus talked with industry owners and stake holders and took a quick feedback regarding present business situation. We are suffering very badly again from the second wave of Covid-19, but somehow, we are managing running our industries by maintaining proper safety guidelines. The good news is that we are getting orders because of the political instability and image crisis for Rohingya incident of Myanmar, the international buyers are coming back from Myanmar and placing orders to Bangladesh. India is in a bad situation due to COVID-19.
So, the buyers are coming to BD with confidence as we have less Corona patients, political stability, and we have already started vaccinations rapidly. Moreover, many international organizations e.g., ILO, US senators etc. now agreed the RMG sector of Bangladesh is now one of safest destinations in the world. Also, our workers are now highly skilled.
The government and the central bank have supported us during the Corona situation and hope the affected factories will get more supports for reopening. In addition, the Chittagong Port authority has to support us for quick deliveries of our shipments. We are getting huge orders but the true factor is we are not getting the fair prices from the buyers. In that case, I hope our owners will have a common list of pricing this time, so that; the owners can increase prices from the buyers unitedly.
