The Textile Engineers Alumni Association of City University (TEAACU) has announced its new executive committee for the 2026–28 term, with S M Shohel Rana, Managing Director of Denim Solutions Ltd, elected president and Md Anamul Hoque Jime, Assistant General Manager of Impress-Newtex Composite Textiles Ltd, appointed general secretary.
The announcement was made at a programme held at the Boat Club, attended by alumni, textile professionals and members of the association. Among those present were Ahamed Sorowar, founder president of TEAACU, and Engr Md Arifuzzaman, chief election commissioner of the TEAACU election. Ahamed Sorowar is also listed as an adviser to the newly proposed committee, while Engr Md Arifuzzaman is listed among the advisers.
The newly formed committee aims to bring professionals working in textile engineering under a stronger bond of fraternity and create greater opportunities for mutual support, professional networking and knowledge sharing. Speaking at the programme, Engr Md Aminul Islam, chief adviser of TEAACU and Managing Director of Dara Technology (BD) Ltd, said the organisation should work to create meaningful opportunities for textile professionals while helping the younger generation develop their technical knowledge and skills.
He said TEAACU would focus on organising training programmes for professionals and providing technical support and knowledge-sharing opportunities to junior students who are still studying at universities. “An organisation should not be formed with the intention of making money from it. The purpose should be to build a bond of fraternity, so that members can stand by one another and become useful to each other,” he said.
The new committee is headed by President S M Shohel Rana and General Secretary Md Anamul Hoque Jime. S M Prosun-uz-zaman Khan Rezu, Managing Director of RNT (BD) Ltd, has been appointed senior vice-president, while several professionals from the textile and apparel sector have been given key positions in the committee.
The committee also includes office bearers responsible for organising, employment, finance, publicity and publication, education and literature, women’s affairs, sports and cultural activities, and social welfare. Alumni from different batches have also been included as executive members.
The outgoing president and general secretary congratulated the new leadership and wished the newly formed committee success in carrying forward the activities of the association. The new leadership expressed its commitment to strengthening ties among textile engineering professionals while creating a bridge between industry professionals and students through training, technical support and knowledge exchange.
