Dhaka, Bangladesh — The Textile Engineers Alumni Association of City University (TEAACU) successfully organised its 2nd Grand Reunion, marking 20 years of excellence of the Textile Department at City University. The day-long celebration represented a significant milestone, bringing together alumni from multiple generations, academicians, and distinguished leaders from the textile and ready-made garments (RMG) sector on a single platform.

The program was thoughtfully designed in two major segments. The first session was exclusively dedicated to alumni, offering a dynamic space for reconnecting across batches, renewing friendships, and strengthening professional networks. The second session featured prominent industry leaders and invited guests, followed by a vibrant cultural segment that reflected the unity, pride, and shared legacy of the TEAACU family.

TEAACU holds a unique and historic distinction as the first alumni association among private universities in Bangladesh. Since its inception, the association has played a pioneering role in strengthening collaboration between academia and the textile industry while fostering professional unity and nationwide engagement among textile engineers.

The event was graced by Brigadier General Professor Dr. Engr. Md. Lutfor Rahman (Retd.), Honorable Vice Chancellor of City University, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of leadership among the younger generation in driving the future of the textile and RMG sector and encouraged alumni to remain actively connected with their alma mater to ensure sustainable growth, innovation, and academic excellence.

Visionary leader Ahamed Sorowar, Founder President and Advisor of TEAACU, highlighted that the association was established with a clear and long-term vision—to unite textile engineers under a strong and cohesive platform that promotes professional development, ethical practices, and collective progress for the advancement of both the industry and the nation. He noted that the presence of more than 3,200 engineers under one umbrella today stands as a powerful testament to that vision becoming a reality.

Professor Kazi Shahadat Kabir, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor of City University, expressed his delight at the overwhelming participation of alumni and extended his heartfelt best wishes. He acknowledged the significant contributions of City University graduates to the national textile and RMG industry and appreciated their continued engagement with the university.

TEAACU President Zahurul Islam Rozen stated that organizing a grand reunion had been a long-standing commitment since assuming office, and he expressed immense pride in seeing that promise successfully fulfilled through the collective efforts of the association.

General Secretary Limon Khan underscored the importance of professional networking, ethical leadership, and collaborative initiatives in ensuring the long-term sustainability and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s RMG sector.

Program Coordinator Md. Arif Zaman remarked that the long-anticipated reunion had been successfully accomplished and reaffirmed TEAACU’s commitment to organizing such initiatives regularly to further strengthen alumni engagement and industry–academia collaboration.

The organizers also acknowledged that Sazzad Hossain played a significant role, demonstrating exceptional dedication and effort in the planning and execution of the program, which greatly contributed to the overall success of the reunion.

The event was further enriched by the presence and speeches of renowned leaders and professionals from the textile and RMG industry, who shared valuable insights on innovation, sustainability, and the future challenges and opportunities of the sector.

The reunion was proudly supported by Title Sponsors RNT BD and RITZU Corporation; Gold Sponsor Denim Solutions Limited; Silver Sponsor Pure Chemicals; and Co-Sponsors Bhashani Machineries, Dara Technology, NS Corporation, Garmon–Kevin Group, Hermoso Fashion, and ATN Tex.

The 2nd Grand Reunion of TEAACU stood as a powerful testament to unity, professional excellence, and a shared commitment to advancing Bangladesh’s textile and RMG industry through strong alumni engagement, visionary leadership, and meaningful collaboration.
