Team Textile Focus had an insightful conversation with Azfar Hasaan, Director of Giant Group, during the visit of Techtextil & Texprocess 2026 organized by Messe Frankfurt, about the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing, innovation-driven growth, and Bangladesh’s evolving role in the global textile industry, as well as his perspectives on raw material efficiency, technological advancement, and future diversification beyond garments. A brief discussion is given below for our respected readers.

Sustainable Innovation at Giant Group

We are focusing on working smarter, especially in sourcing raw materials to reduce overall process time and minimize environmental impact, including water use and other resource consumption. Our company is continually investing in sustainability to offer better, more sustainable products not only for international buyers but also for our country.

A Legacy of Responsibility and National Commitment

Coming into this business is a difficult question to answer simply. I was born into this industry, but beyond that, I have a deep sense of responsibility and love for the country. Despite not being a cotton-producing nation and lacking our own advanced technologies, Bangladesh has managed to maintain a strong global position thanks to the courage and resilience of our entrepreneurs. I strongly believe that our industry will continue to grow over the next 25 to 30 years through better products, technological investment, and upskilling our workforce. My personal motivation has always been to contribute to the country and to grow our family business, as I knew this would ultimately be my destination.

Knowledge, Networking, and Global Exposure Through Expo

My purpose in attending expos is to gain knowledge, as I believe knowledge is power. These exhibitions provide a great opportunity to learn, explore innovations, and build strong networks, which are essential for facing future global challenges. To increase Bangladesh’s participation in such international fairs, we need greater promotion and stronger collaboration from industry associations such as BGMEA, BKMEA, and BTMA. With proper support, Bangladesh can present itself more effectively on the global stage.

Expanding Beyond Garments for Future Growth

Looking ahead, I believe Bangladesh has immense potential beyond garments. While we are already strong in apparel, we should also expand into diversified sectors such as hard goods and footwear. This diversification will help us strengthen our global position and unlock new opportunities for growth.
