Technological advancement will amplify garment exports- PHILEXPORT

The Philippine Exporting Confederation’s (Philexport) trustee Robert M Young has shown that after COVID-19, country’s garment distributors are concentrating on the selling of their remaining inventories in the region. He urged the government to improve the country’s internet and production technologies.

He also called on the Government, especially with the US, to continue negotiations on FTA. Select items, including shoes, shoes, and wearables can, according to him, enter the US tax-free. This encourages foreign purchasers to purchase more from Manila. Consumers would potentially be more conservative in the purchasing of clothing after COVID-19. He expects retailers’ garment orders to that by about 50%, as buyers have already canceled 50-70% of recent orders.
