On October 10, 2025, the Textile Engineers Society (TES) organized a seminar and panel discussion titled ‘Future of Bangladesh Apparel Industry in a Changing Global Market’ at the Media Bazar Hall of the China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon, Dhaka. Operating under the motto “Connecting Industry & Academia,” TES collaborates with students from over 35 universities across the country to bridge the gap between industry and academia. This event marked a significant milestone in inspiring the younger generation toward sustainable development and innovation.

The event was attended by leading industry experts from Bangladesh. The keynote speaker was Himel Mahmud, Chief Operating Officer, Aman graphics & Designs Ltd.( Unifill group). The panel discussion was enriched by contributions from Adil Md. Habibur Rahman (Director, New Dynasty), Rizvan Hasan (Country Head, Bangladesh, Reverse Resources), Md. Mamun-Ur-Rashid (Managing Director, Tex-Scholar Company Limited), Abdul Hakim (CMO, Hoorain HTF Limited, Jamuna Group). The seminar and panel discussion was coordinated by Md. Rifatur Rahman Miazee, Founder of Textile Engineers Society.

In his keynote address, Himel Mahmud spoke to the youth, stating, “The future of Bangladesh’s apparel industry hinges on sustainable production, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), and the establishment of ethical business values. Our goal should be to achieve ৳100 billion in exports over the next decade. The young generation is the driving force behind this vision.”

The panel discussion, moderated by Abdullah Al Mamun, Business Area Manager at Marks & Spencer, emphasized the importance of research, innovation, and eco-friendly technologies for sustainable development. The panelists stressed the need for ethical and responsible practices to combat water pollution and environmental degradation in the industry. Abdul Hakim remarked, “Young textile engineers must focus on practical research in multi-fiber, sustainable fibers, and recycling to drive meaningful change.”

The event saw participation from university teachers, students, researchers, and industry representatives. TES expressed optimism that such initiatives will motivate the younger generation to engage in research-driven and sustainable development efforts within the apparel industry.
