The Significance of the July Revolution for US-Bangladesh Relations

Distinguished diplomats, academics, and industry leaders gathered at North South University (NSU) to discuss the evolving dynamics of Bangladesh-United States relations in the context of recent national and global developments.

The seminar, titled “The Significance of the July Revolution for US-Bangladesh Relations: Looking Back, Looking Forward,” was organized by the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) at NSU on July 28.

The event brought together prominent experts in diplomacy, policy, and trade, including former U.S. diplomat Jon F. Danilowicz, NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, and Professor (retd) Shahiduzzaman of Dhaka University. They shared their insightful views on the strategic importance of US-Bangladesh ties in a changing global landscape.

Speaking as a distinguished panelist, Faisal Samad, former Senior Vice President of BGMEA, underscored the importance of strengthening Bangladesh-United States relations, highlighting the significance of the U.S. market for Bangladesh, particularly for RMG exports. He also emphasized diplomatic engagements to advance mutual trade interests.

The seminar was also addressed by BGMEA Directors Md. Hasib Uddin, Nafis-Ud-Doula, and Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, and Khan Monirul Alam Shuvo, Chair of the BGMEA Standing Committee on Branding.
