“Threads of Empowerment: Women in RMG & Apparel Industry” Virtual Mega Event Unveils Two Days of Inspiration and Insight

In an awe-inspiring two-day virtual event, ‘Threads of Empowerment: Women in RMG & Apparel Industry,’ powered by Intrapass GmbH and meticulously organized by DWMTEC Career Club – DCC, unfolded a remarkable journey of empowerment and enlightenment.

Day 1 Highlights: A Path to Professional Prowess

The inaugural day saw an impressive turnout of over 100 participants, eagerly engaging with three distinguished speakers. Aleya Aktar, former HR GM at HA-MEEM Group, initiated the evening with a profound discussion on Career Roadmap & Guidance from 8:30 PM. Following this, Mst Shahnaj Rojee, Sr. General Manager (Merchandising) at HA-MEEM Group, shared insights into her Career Journey, providing tips on maintaining a balance between personal and professional. The night concluded with Israt Jahan, Managing Director at Apparel Resource BD, who shared her Inspiring Career Journey, discussed challenges faced as a Woman Leader, and explored Career Scopes and opportunities in Merchandising till 10:20 PM. After appreciating the sponsors and club the first day of the event ended.

Day 2 Roar: Illuminating Perspectives on Empowerment
Day 2 of the ‘Threads of Empowerment: Women in RMG & Apparel Industry’ virtual mega event commenced with an impactful Introductory Speech and event Overview by Md Rashid, President of DWMTEC Career Club. The day featured four compelling slots with distinguished guest speakers, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the virtual stage. From 7:45 PM, Zarin Rashid, Director at TRZ Garments Industry Ltd., shared insights into her Inspiring Career Journey, breaking barriers as a youngster, and navigating negative or toxic environments. Following this, Laila Naznin, Head of HR & Admin at Star Cineplex, then engaged the audience, sharing her career journey and inspiration, providing guidance on campus-to-corporate pathways, and addressing the challenges of being a woman leader. The final slot featured Sabrina Sharmeen, Business Development Manager at Kaiser Bekleidungs-GmbH and Founder of Textile Tech Association, delving into her inspiring career journey, effective networking and communication strategies, and insights into organizational leadership and MNC career guidance. The event also experienced a pleasant surprise with the unexpected presence of Aleya Aktar and Israt Jahan, adding a delightful touch to the culmination of this empowering two-day experience.
We were also graced with the pleasant surprise presence of Aleya Aktar & Israt Jahan, even with their busy schedules. It was a huge surprise for us that made our event complete.

Israt Jahan assured us about giving a great chance to potential women with guidance. She will be helping women in the textile industry to grow through the Dwmtec Career Club.

We also had the Community Builder, “Kh Fakrul Anam Benju,” of the “Grameenphone Accelerator” program connecting the idea contest of the event, and Waeza Masnoon, Executive Director at Clifton Group of Industries and Valencia’s Secret, the Co-founder, and CEO of B.W.: Bold Woman, talked about woman harassment occurrence and prevention on our last day of the event.

Post-Event Engagement and Acknowledgments
The event successfully engaged over 200 participants and featured eight high-profile guests. The excitement continues with upcoming CV submissions, mock interviews, and an idea contest, offering a chance to win a remarkable 5000 BDT prize money.

The event is still not finished yet. So, stay connected as Aleya Aktar will be taking mock interviews of the participants.

The Moderator of the Dmwtec Career Club, Mahmudul Hasan appreciated this program and said that the collaborative relationship should be more rich between industry and the academy. Also, Chief Advisor Engr. Abdur Rokib, Principal of Dr M A Wazed Miah Textile Engineering College, thanked the industry professionals for taking valuable time from their busy schedules for students.
