Three more RMG factories get LEED certification

Desk Report: Three more garment factories in Bangladesh have received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for their green initiatives in apparel manufacturing.

Energypac Fashions extension Project; P.N Composite Limited received the platinum-rated certification and Dhaka Garments & Washing Ltd received the GOLD-rated certification from the USGBC, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) said today.

BGMEA Director, Mohiuddin Rubel said, the Bangladesh RMG industry has now 192 LEED-certified factories with 68 Platinum, the top 8 factories out of the first 10 in the world and the top 53 factories out of the first 100.

Rubel added that green factories increase the confidence of the buyers to procure more RMG products from Bangladesh. Rubel further said the LEED certification will help the country’s RMG producers to compete in the global market and get the best prices.
