BGMEA Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan participated as a distinguished speaker at a seminar titled “Turning Renewable Energy Targets into Reality: Key Challenges and Way Forward,” organized by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on 12 April, 2026.

The seminar brought together key policymakers, industry representatives, and experts to discuss Bangladesh’s renewable energy ambitions and the pathways to achieving national targets of 20% renewable energy by 2030 and 30% by 2040. BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed attended the seminar as chief guest.
During her remarks, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan highlighted the growing energy challenges facing the RMG sector, emphasizing that adopting renewable energy solutions is no longer optional but essential to maintaining global competitiveness.
She further stressed the importance of reducing import duties on Solar equipment and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which remain critical barriers to scaling renewable energy adoption in factories.
She said that due to a lack of appropriate policies and regulations issued by government authorities, our renewable energy generation is not growing as fast as it should.
