US clothing imports plunged significantly last year

us-clothingAccording to official statistics, US clothing imports decreased by 23.46% in 2020. Apparel Resources estimates that the nation imports $64.07 billion in clothes in 2020, a decrease of $17.6 billion from 2019. Their partner countries, except Vietnam, which showed a single-digit decrease in export, were affected by this. U.S. imports of clothing dropped 16.37%, down to SMEs of 23,132.80 million in 2020 in value. In 2020 the unit prices of these imports have fallen 8.28% as the UVR was only $3.02 for SME, relative to 2019. The amount of US imports of clothing fell 1.40% on a Y-o-Y basis, particularly in December ’20. During the last month of 2020, imports decreased to 16% to $4.83 billion.
