During the seminar, Muhammad Enamul Habib, CEO and Managing Director of Water Technology BD Ltd. who also inaugurated the program, shared his organization’s experiences and success stories. He quoted that they have completed over 570 projects that have saved the environment from pollution by treating 60,000 MT of wastewater per day. The company has completed 90% of wastewater treatment plants in the Edible Oil Refinery and Sugar Refinery sector, and they have solved wastewater problems in the Textiles, Pharmaceuticals, Hospital, Economic Zone, and Food and Beverages Industries for the last 14 years.

During this technical presentation, Mr. Halim Sutanto, Global Market Segment Leader for Industrial Utility Water at DuPont Water Solutions, highlighted the function, advantages, and usages of FilmTecTM RO membranes. He also compared these membranes to currently existing RO membranes and introduced their FilmTecTM product. In addition to that, he elaborated on how the FilmTecTM membrane might be able to alleviate the present water crisis in Bangladesh, particularly in the Bangabandhu Seikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar region. He noted that they are in contact with the Authority of BSMSN and IWM to work together to find a sustainable solution to the issue that they are now facing over the desalination plant.

Mr. Smit Nimbarte, Commercial Development Manager at DuPont Water Solutions, has also introduced the inge® Ultrafilter membrane and the Memcor® MBR membrane. To comply with national regulations in a sustainable manner, these membranes and Prime RO can implement Zero Liquide Discharge (ZLD) in every dischargeable industry, he explained. According to Nimbarte, Ultrafiltration technology provides reliable removal of microorganisms, viruses, and pathogens providing consistent high-quality filtrate, maximum stability, minimal fiber breakage, extended service life, high reliability, and performance with low operating costs.

Nimbarte added that DuPont’s MBR systems combine the benefits of biological treatment and membrane filtration to separate liquids and particulates in a fully automated manner. This technology is superior to conventional techniques because it eliminates the need for secondary clarification, media, and charcoal filtration. Benefits of DuPont’s MBR technology include saving space on locations with limited space, enhancing effluent quality, permitting plant expansions within the same footprint, and having the lowest energy consumption for membrane air scouring.

He also provided examples of water treatment plants with a capacity greater than 50 MLD (million litres per day) that employ MBR technology. He emphasized how their technology has been utilized in numerous large-scale initiatives to provide potable water of high quality and safety. These initiatives, according to Nimbarte, demonstrate the efficacy and dependability of their membrane technologies in treating large volumes of water, making them a viable option for municipalities and industries.
