Team Textile Focus had a conversation with them, key discussion points are mentioned below for our readers-
Textile Focus: Please give a brief on your business in textiles.
Yiming Mei: We actively pursue opportunities within the textile industry, with a specific focus on enzymatic treatment. Our textile business demonstrates consistent growth, driven by our ongoing investments in innovative products and solutions for our valued customers. Our business in textile solutions is growing. Even though the market situation is not good our business keeps growing. We are investing and we hope we can provide more innovative products for our customers in the coming days.
Textile Focus: How do you see the prospect of Bestzyme business in Bangladesh?
Yiming Mei: Bangladesh is really an important market and that’s why we joined the exhibition. We are actively investing in the country. Prior to entering this market, we conducted extensive research into Bangladesh’s textile sector. In the opening ceremony of the exhibition, I came to know some interesting facts about the industry. It’s noteworthy that Bangladesh accounts for 70% to 80% of total exports and contributes significantly to the country’s GDP, representing 45-50%. Furthermore, the government of Bangladesh provides substantial support to the textile industry. Given these factors, we have strong confidence that the textile sector in Bangladesh will continue to thrive and present significant opportunities for growth. We also believe the exports to foreign countries will keep growing and the citizens of Dhaka is huge, so it is a big market.
Textile Focus: For the betterment of any industry Research & Development is essential. What do you think? Do you have any R&D units?
Yiming Mei: Research and Development are indeed integral to Bestzyme. We are not solely manufacturers but also dedicated product developers. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continuously research and create new products and solutions. We are actively involved in enzyme development, bio-solutions, and the introduction of chemicals into commercial production. Prioritizing environmental and human safety, we begin with precautionary research, followed by rigorous standard testing. Subsequently, we embark on in-depth product development research. Once we receive any requirements from our commercial team, we refer them to our R&D team. Then our R&D team works on that with top priority. We have also invested in application research. We have a local partner here and Mr. Prasanna Raghavan frequently travels to Dhaka to provide the best support for the industry.
Textile Focus: How do you see the pattern of the textile industry in this region (South Asia)?
Yiming Mei: Previously, China held a dominant position in the textile industry. However, the current landscape shows a notable shift, with many manufacturers relocating to other countries, especially within the South Asian region. We anticipate continued growth in this industry within South Asia in the future. One significant driver behind this shift is the transformation of the supply chain dynamics. We see bright prospects for the textile business in this region. That’s why we are focusing our business on this region.
Textile Focus: Sustainability is the major concern of today’s textile industry; how do you ensure sustainable products for the industry?
Yiming Mei: With two decades of experience in the industry, we’ve made sustainability a core focus since the inception of our business in China, and that commitment endures. Our guiding principles prioritize both people and the environment. Our ongoing efforts are aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals while preserving the environment. We believe that true sustainability is achieved through action, not just words. Embracing sustainable products and technologies is a crucial aspect of our approach. We understand that adaptability to change is vital for achieving sustainability, and we are fully prepared to embrace and integrate these changes into our practices.
Prasanna Raghavan: Specially for the South Asia market still a long way to go for sustainability practices. The reason is because of the balancing of the cost and the performance. That’s the biggest challenge. There are so many people who are ready to practice sustainability in the process but when it is about the cost then it makes the difference. Because every sustainable product comes from the supplier at an extra cost. That’s why the main challenge is to source the right sustainable product with the right performance at a competitive price. Another issue is that the total value chain should be processed with a sustainable process. If the total value chain is ready to pay for that we can see a better world.
Textile Focus: What are the main products of your company and why those are special to your sight?
Prasanna Raghavan: At Bestzyme, we primarily supply a comprehensive range of enzymes to the textile market in Bangladesh. Our product portfolio includes enzymes for various applications such as bio-polishing, stone washing, waterless processes, and Stone less washing process solutions. With our products, we can help the formulators to create sustainable products. We have a channel partner here in Dhaka, Eco Chem. We are always meeting our clients and providing support.
Textile Focus: What is your key message to the industry as a manufacturer?
Yiming Mei: Our message to the industry is that we provide not just products but a complete solution package in Bangladesh. Our dedicated marketing team actively engages with our customers, gathering their valuable feedback. Based on this feedback, we continuously refine and enhance our products and services to better meet the evolving needs of the industry.
