The Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) marked its 17th Anniversary, Alumni Reunion, and Farewell Program with a day-long celebration, bringing together faculty members, current students, alumni, and distinguished guests in a vibrant display of unity and academic pride.
The festivities commenced with a colorful rally around the WUB campus at 10:30 a.m., with students and alumni enthusiastically participating. The rally symbolized the department’s successful 17-year journey and reflected the strong bond among its stakeholders.
The formal session was held at the Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium. Prof. Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Among the Special Guests were Prof. Zaki Imam, the Registrar of the World University of Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Quamruzzaman, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
The program was presided over by Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design. During the session, alumni members were introduced, cherished memories and experiences were shared, and graduating students received farewell wishes from teachers and fellow students.
Speakers highlighted the department’s remarkable achievements over the last 17 years, emphasizing its contribution to textile education, research, and the development of skilled professionals for Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry. They also underscored the department’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence and supporting the continued growth of the country’s largest industrial sector.
Following the formal discussion, participants joined a prayer and lunch gathering, providing an opportunity for alumni, faculty members, and students to strengthen their bonds and reconnect.
The celebrations concluded with an energetic cultural program at the university canteen, where students and alumni showcased their talents through music and performances, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.
Organized under the theme, “Let’s Reunite, Reconnect, and Celebrate 17 Years of Excellence Together,” the anniversary celebration reflected the department’s dedication to fostering alumni engagement and preserving its legacy of academic excellence. Participants expressed optimism about the department’s future growth and its continued contribution to the advancement of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector.
