Seminar on 1st Inter University Innovative Research Idea Competition and Career development-2018 was held on Saturday in Shahid Ahsan Ullah Master Auditorium of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur. Different students from 23 public and private universities participated in this seminar. Professor Dr. Alauddin,Vice-Chancellor of DUET was the chief guest at the program organized by DUET Textile Engineering Department & Center for Professional Development(CPD). Seminar presided over by Dr. Md. Abdus Sahid, Head, Textile Engineering Department. Professor Dr. Mohammad Joynal Abedin, Dean, Department of Mechanical; Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, Director (Student Welfare); Prof. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Principal, National Institution of Textile Engineering & Research (NITER);Shamim Mahmud Ahmed,Managing Director, Cotton Max Limited;Mafizul Karim, Chief Operating Officer, Helicon Group and Engr. Tushar Kumar Paul, CEO, Center for Professional Development (CPD) were present as special guest.
The competition was moderated by Abdul Hannan, Associate Professor of Textile Engineering Department. During the seminar successful textile professionals shared their success history and explained how to handle the crisis and solve out. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Mohammad Alauddin said, “Research Idea Competition will make engineers more enthusiastic to advance the textile industry in keeping with the developed world.” Engr. Tushar Kumar Pal, Country Manager 3TL, USA,described how skill development is related for industrial development.
Program Co-coordinator Nayan Chandra Roy highlighted the program’s success and said that they have a plan to organize nationwide event, he also eared support from the industry and university. Students of different public and private universities participated in the program. In this competition,Textplosion team of Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTex) won 1st position, DUET Texsmart team won second place and Twist Team of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) own third place. They were awarded with prize money and crest.
