When the whole world is struggling to find a cure for the coronavirus epidemic, a Bangladeshi textiles company named Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Limited has developed a solution that can help us fight against corona virus or any other virus or bacteria. A solution that treats fabrics with biocidal and virucidal treatment and ensures that the microbes are blocked instantly, they are killed within 120 seconds, and with an assurance that it works 99.9%. They made this in partnership with two renowned Swiss companies.
On 14 May 2020, all details about this antivirus Fabric was revealed through a press conference by the company. “Clothes manufactured with these specially treated fabrics can protect customers from microbes and prevent from being affected by virus like covid 19. This will definitely give much better leverage in selling the products at stores. At these times of crisis and even for the future, the demand of such products is very high and customers may even be willing to buy at premium,” said Anol Rayhan, the company’s brand manager. “The treatment of the fabric, which is registered with different compliance bodies of the US and the EU, has been tested and validated under test norm ISO 18184”, according to Mr. Rayhan,
“The cloth can protect users from microbes and prevent them from being infected by COVID-19,” said Rashid Ashraf Khan, chief marketing officer of Zaber and Zubair. This treated fabrics are protected from all kinds of viruses and bacteria, wash durable, soft and breathable in 100% cotton and blends, and absolutely safe to the skin.
The fabric can be used to make woven shirts, masks and personal protective equipment (PPE), Rayhan said, adding that, as of yesterday, 75 international retailers have inquired about the groundbreaking product. “For the PPE fabrics, they are solvent and fluid repellent in 100% polyester composition, have high tensile and tear strength and are wash durable up to 20 washes. We, at Zaber and Zubair Fabrics, always strive for innovation on how to be more responsible in creating safe and secured products. Zaber and Zubair supplies its fabrics and garments to more than 300 international and local buyers. “But by next week the number of our buyers will cross 600 as we are getting a huge response every day,” said by Rashid Ashraf Khan.
The company will start bulk production at the end of this month at its factory in Tongi and has a plan to make seven million pieces of woven garment items in a month from the specialised fabric. The company can churn out 10 million yards of fabrics a month. They informed that this is special kind of fabric so product cost will be little bit high. Till now they have calculated 125 GSM fabric cost per yard is 88-90 cent.
