Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium hosts reception to BGMEA delegation

Desk Report: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Belgium Mahbub Hassan Saleh hosted a reception in honor of a delegation of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at his residence in Brussels on February 22.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan led the delegation which comprised Vice President Miran Ali, Directors Asif Ashraf, Tanvir Ahmed and Abdullah Hil Rakib. High officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium also joined the program. They discussed various issues including graduation of Bangladesh from LDC, possible changes in the tariff regime in export markets and how to retain trade privileges in the post-LDC status.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan underscored the need for more economic diplomacy and deeper engagement with governments and stakeholders at international level especially in the European Union so that the momentum behind Bangladesh’s economic growth continues after the country’s graduation from the LDC category. He thanked the Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium for its proactive role in promoting the interests of Bangladesh in the European Union and also for hosting the reception.
