“As Bangladesh prepares for its next phase of development, which will be knowledge-based and heavily reliant on industrial growth, the demand for graduates with market-oriented knowledge and adequate skills is rising,” he said while addressing an orientation event organized by the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) for incoming students at its campus in Dhaka on March 24.

A. K. Azad MP, Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group and Professor Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of BUFT, also spoke at the event which was chaired by Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT.

In his speech, Faruque Hassan stressed the importance of bridging the gap between classroom education and real-world performance, emphasizing the value of practical experiences, internships, and interactions with professionals in students’ respective fields of interest.

He invited students to explore BGMEA Complex, where they can witness firsthand the organization’s initiatives in research and development, circularity, sustainability, market promotion, and design development, all aimed at advancing the ready-made garment industry.

At the program, Faruque Hassan handed over a donation of 50-lac taka to BUFT for the Shafiuddin-Tosrifa BUFT Scholarship.

Named after his parents, Shafi Uddin Ahmed and Tosrifa Khatoon, the scholarship aims to support meritorious students facing financial challenges in pursuing their educational aspirations and excellence. A. K. Azad MP, Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group, contributed 25-lac taka to the scholarship which will be used to nurture talent and foster educational excellence.
