Blucheez and Manchester Fashion Institute Starts Collaboration

Blucheez is a growing, renowned fashion brand in Bangladesh. With each passing day, Blucheez is thriving and working relentlessly with utmost dedication towards becoming a brand that becomes the identity of the people it serves. Blucheez has been collaborating with several fashion enthusiasts in its home country. And now it is high time Blucheez collaborated with renowned global fashion platforms.

One such initiative towards the global fashion industry was the recent collaboration with the Manchester Fashion Institute which collaborates with multiple global brands and institutes on various projects to encourage students to think and work outside the box.

Mr. Gavin Douglas, the Fashion Design and Technology Program Leader, and Dr. Abu Sadat Md. Sayem, the Principal Investigator of the Digital Network (AHCR Project), of Manchester Fashion Institute organized a contest on May 2nd, 2023 among the highly enthusiastic fashion undergrads of the Institute to design jeans exploring and celebrating the cultural variation across the world. Students worked together to develop concepts for jeans, keeping in mind the cultural significance of the various parts of the world. The project enabled the participants to communicate their ideas through presentations and have elaborate discussions with peers from other regions, cultural entities, and backgrounds, which expanded their understanding and knowledge of fashion.

The contest accelerated the students’ competitive mindset and helped bring out creative perspectives. Winners were selected after thorough analysis based on concept, creativity, and design. The three winners of the contest were Ms. Emily Atkinson, Ms. Amrita Mukherjee, and Bryony Emily Whittingham. All three of them focused on Eid-Ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, while developing the concepts of their designs. One of the winners focused on the concept of Ramadan, which includes fasting from dawn to sunset. Another winner focused on both Eid and Puja, two different religious festivals famous among Muslims and Hindus all over the world.

The winners were presented with accolades by Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, the founder of Blucheez, in the presence of Dr. Abu Sadat Md. Sayem; Senior Lecturer of Fashion Design and Technology, Mr. Adrian Thorton, and Senior Lecturer of Fashion Technology, Ms. Jayne Mechan from Manchester Fashion Institute.

Blucheez and the Manchester Fashion Institute are thrilled to have joined forces with the launch of this contest. Both the brand and the Institute are hopeful about the many more collaborative journeys they are going to embark on in the near future.
