Indigo knit is made more or less the same way as denim. Cotton fibres are carted, spun, indigo dyed, and finally woven. Polyester and elastane are added to the cotton to increase flexibility and fabric recovery. Although Indigo Knit is in fact technically a woven fabric, it feels more like knitted sweater than denim. Structures and made of
Woven fabrics and knitted fabrics, as a general rule have different qualities. Woven fabrics such as denim, gabardine, popline and others tend to be stable, but more rigid than knitted fabrics. In woven knitted denim fabric wefts include hard yarns and elastomeric yarns in a predetermined arrangement such that one or two hard yarn is alternately arranged with one or two elastomeric yarn. The elastomeric yarns having greater shrinkage ratio than hard yarns. The hard yarns form under portions and over portions with respect to warps, under portions being formed when hard yarns pass along the back side of the warps and defining loop portions. Over portions being formed when the hard yarns pass along the front side of the warps and define connection portions. The effects created through these structures have made denim a popular and fashionable knit look items in clothing industries.
