Faruque Hassan has been elected president of the non-governmental organisation Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS).
Faruque Hassan, the incumbent president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), was also a member of the MSS Executive Committee, read a press release.
MSS outgoing president Feroz M Hassan announced the names of the new president and Executive Committee members at its 48th annual general meeting in Dhaka on Saturday.
They said, “Besides the social development sector, especially in reducing rural poverty, reaching essential services to remote people, and the role of NGOs in women’s empowerment are undeniable.”
Faruque Hassan said, “Rapid urbanization, expansion of education based on consensus, good governance, climate change and adaptation, youth employment creation, addressing income disparity, human rights and gender equality issues need to be addressed alongside the government by advancing NGOs. MSS will work with priority in these areas.”
The annual report of the organization for the previous year was presented and approved at the 48th Annual General Meeting. The annual report for the fiscal year 2021-22 was presented and approved by the President. In addition, the proposed budget and work plan for the fiscal year 2023-24 were presented and approved.
At this time, the present President of MSS, Firoz M. Hassan, Vice-President A.K.M. Jamman, Treasurer Md. Mosleh Uddin Dali, newly elected President Faruk Hasan, along with the Executive Council and General Council members were present.
