‘Fashion Tech Week’ (FTW), Dhaka concludes on highly successful note

Empowering the Bangladesh Readymade Garment (RMG) industry, the debut edition of ‘Fashion Tech Week’ (FTW), Dhaka, concluded on a high note as exhibitors and visitors were overjoyed to exchange valuable opportunities in the tech driven apparel business.

Technology leaders in the apparel sector offering solutions to the various pain points of RMG manufacturers like CLO Virtual Fashion, Tukatech, r-pac, Solvei8, Pakiza Software Limited, Logic Software Limited, Jaza Software, BlueKaktus, Dark- Kak and Sizifi gave live demod of their cutting-edge technologies to industry representatives. 

The two day event, organised by India-based Apparel Resources at Radisson Blu, Dhaka, had a large audience who eagerly dove deep into the world of technology.

The revolutionary tech displayed and discussed at FTW involved 3D cutting, Industry 4.0, predictive analytics, trend forecasting, on-demand manufacturing, virtual fitting rooms, customer engagement and experiential buying through technologies like AI/ML/AR/VR, 3D, IoT, edge computing, blockchain, smart textiles robotics and much more.

The top level management, including CXOs of DBL Group, Standard Group, Anowara Group, Team Group, Urmi Group, Plummy Fashions and global brands, retailers and sourcing giants like Otto Int, Asmara, H&M PVH, Li & Fung, Lindex, Inditex Group, Next, and Being Human and more, all attended the event and were impressed with everything they encountered.

Both days of the event had thoughtful and eye opening panel discussions on various topics and stalwart industry leaders actively shared in the curiosity of the audience representing the RMG industry.

Shehryar Burney, Executive Director, Yellow Retail, one of the top level apparel companies of Dhaka shared his experiences about the event, saying “Our industry needs more such events as technology is the key to grow and companies at FTW were really having cutting edge technology.” A similar opinion was also echoed by Sharif Zahir, MD of Ananta Group, as he was also impressed by the event and found it stimulating and interesting.

Top level and mid-level professionals from RMG companies, from across departments like sustainability, production, merchandising and more, also visited the event and benefited immensely. “Panel discussions were really beneficial in terms of add-value in futuristic approach and motivated us to be more tech savvy across the organisation,” said ABM Faqrul Alam, Group Head of Sustainability, Urmi Group.

Exhibitors at the event also got a tremendous response and found exceptional business opportunities.

“Visitors were keen to see our cutting-edge technology, there are a lot of grey areas in apparel manufacturing where we can help the industry and solve their pain points, make their businesses faster, easier and more profitable. FTW proved a good platform to connect with tech suppliers and companies like us,” said Harsh Kumar, Business Development Manager, CLO Virtual Fashion.
