The grand installation ceremony of 14th Central Executive Committee of ITET held with some good achievements for the textile engineers. The installation ceremony was held in The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium, Dhaka recently. Engr. Mosharraf Hossain MP, Minister, Ministry of Housing & Public Works was present as chief guest. Mr. Mahabubul Alam Hanif MP, Joint General Secretary, Bangladesh Awami League; Mr. Mirza Azam MP, State Minister, Ministry of Textiles & Jute; Mr. Md. Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Public Works; Engr.Masud Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles; Engr. Md. Abdus Sabur, Secretary , Science & Technology Affairs, Bangladesh Awami League were present as special guest. The event was presided by Enbr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, President, The Institution of Textile Engineers & Technologists.
An independent land for ITET was a demand for a long time. The chief guest Engr. Mosharaf Hossain announced that the government will allocate a piece of land for ITET. The minister said, “ Textile industry is the heart of our economy and textile engineers are the driven force of this industry. Our government is working for the development of the country. We will arrange a piece of land as requested Uttara area for ITET to facility the activities of ITET.” He also added, “I extend my heartiest congratulations for all newly elected member of ITET and I hope the textile engineers as well ITET will play vital role to contribute 50 billion export earnings by 2021”.
Another important demand from ITET for a long time is BCS cadre from textile engineers. State minister for Textile and Jute, Mirza Azam MP said, “We are agreed with the demand of BCS cadre inclusion for textile engineers. This is now in processing stage. The ministry is working on that. Hopefully we will get the fruitful decision soon.” He congratulated the newly elected 14th Central Executive Committee and wish all the best.
Mr. Mahabubul Alam Hanif MP mentioned that, “We are developing our textile industry and now we have quality of textile industry. I feel proud when I see Made in Bangladesh products in the stores while I visit European countries.” He also added, “I believe ITET will play a very significant role as a development partner of textile industry.”
Engr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman said,” Textile business is becoming very competitive day by day. We are working to achieve the $50 billion export target by 2021. Its very difficult to achieve if we work traditionally. We will have to work more proactively for value added products”. He also added,” Textile engineers can play very significant role for achieving the target. ITET 14th Central Executive Committee has already taken some initiatives to develop the industry in quality.”
Earlier Professor Md. Monirul Islam, Registrar, Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) and The Chief Election Commissioner read the oath of newly elected 14th Central Executive Committee members. Engr. Md. Shamsuzzaman, President, ITET 13th Central Executive Committee; Engr. Mozzafar Ahmed, President, ITET 13th Central Executive Committee; Engr. Shakhawat Hossain Talukder, Secretory General, ITET; Engr. Md. Selim Reza, Senior Vice President, ITET also delivered speech at the Installation Ceremony.Engr. Md. Shariful Islam (Sharif) encoded the event. Textile engineers who are the life and general members were present at the ceremony and wished all the best for the newly elected committee.
