BGMEA Election: Sammilito Parishad kicked off its election campaign at Sparrow Apparels Ltd

Upcoming BGMEA election-centric platform Sammilito Parishad kicked off its election campaign on February 10, 2024, Thursday, at Sparrow Apparels Ltd in Gazipur. This event was organized by Shovon Islam MD of Sparrow Group.

More than a hundred factory owners from the Gazipur area were present at the kick-off luncheon meeting.

During the kick-off luncheon meeting, Sammilito Parishad Panel Leader, SM Mannan Kochi, passionately elucidated the panel’s goals and targets for the upcoming BGMEA election. The event was not only a platform to share aspirations but also witnessed an overwhelming display of support from factory owners present, who pledged their solidarity with the Sammilito Parishad Panel and committed to backing its candidates.

Mr. Shovon Islam Shawn, a candidate from Sammilito Parishad, skillfully moderated the discussions, ensuring a constructive and engaging exchange of ideas. The presence of prominent figures such as former Gazipur City Mayor Adv. Jahangir Alam, Chayon Islam MP, and numerous journalists added an extra layer of significance to the occasion.

Sparrow Group, serving as the backdrop for this momentous occasion, holds a prestigious position as one of the pioneering entities in the Garments Manufacturing sector in Bangladesh. Founded in 1984 by the eminent Professor Dr. Mahzharul Islam, an influential educationist and organizer of the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Sparrow Group has been a stalwart in the industry. Following the passing of Professor Dr. Islam in 2005, Shovon Islam, his son, took over as the Managing Director and Owner of Sparrow, continuing the legacy.

Shovon Islam’s active role in the BGMEA is further highlighted by his position as the Chairman of the PR & Publicity department of the BGMEA Standing Committee on the current board, underscoring his commitment to the betterment of the garment industry in Bangladesh.

The launch of Sammilito Parishad’s campaign marks a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more progressive and dynamic BGMEA, with the collective support and enthusiasm evident among the Gazipur factory owners, promising a positive change in the upcoming elections.
