Textile Focus: You have been working in this consumer product testing industry for more than 20 years, how do you see this industry?

Dipok Ghosh: Over the past 20 years, the consumer product testing industry has greatly changed. It started with basic quality checks and now does more advanced tests for safety, effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and user experience. One big change is the focus on being eco-friendly. People care more about how products affect the environment, so tests now check things like carbon emissions, if products can be recycled, and if they use renewable materials. Technology has played a significant role. We now use advanced tools with updated software to ensure precise and accurate testing. This helps to improve service for consumers, making it better, faster, and cheaper.

Globalization has also affected the industry. Since products are made and sold worldwide, testing has become more complicated. Different countries have different rules, so we must ensure products meet all the standards. Overall, product testing keeps changing to match what people want, new technology, and the rules we have to follow. In future, we’ll see more digital tools, a bigger focus on being eco-friendly, and more testing to fit the global market.

Textile Focus: How will you consider this industry development in the last 10 years?

Dipok Ghosh: In the last decade, the consumer product testing industry has seen big changes. If I go one by one then firstly, we’re using smarter tools like different spectrophotometric methodologists, making testing faster, better, and cheaper.

Secondly, more Focus on Sustainability. People care more about the environment, so we’re testing products to make sure they’re eco-friendly. We’re not just checking quality anymore; we’re also making sure products are easy and enjoyable to use.

Thirdly, Globalization Challenges, since products are made and sold worldwide, testing has become more complicated. Different countries have different rules, so we need to make sure products meet all the standards.

Then, Regulatory Changes and Compliance Challenges- The rules about testing products are always changing. This makes it tough for companies to stay compliant. To manage this, companies are investing more in systems that help them keep track of and follow these changing rules.

Textile Focus: After merger how Eurofins MTS providing services to the customers?

After merging, both likely combined their knowledge, resources, and technologies, which means Eurofins MTS can now provide a wider range of testing services, including environmental, consumer safety, sustainability testing, and more, for different industries and following various rules. Additionally, the merger has expanded Eurofins MTS’s global presence, allowing them to assist customers in more regions worldwide.

Eurofins has introduced a new testing program called Chemical Smart Testing (ChemST). ChemST is an innovative approach to consumer product testing that provides extensive coverage of regulations such as RSL, REACH, SVHC, and Cal. Prop-65. This program empowers customers to have greater control over their supply chains.

Textile Focus: You have recently completed 15 years at Eurofins MTS, how will you share your feelings regarding this?

Dipok Ghosh: Celebrating 15 years at Eurofins MTS is a significant milestone for me. Thinking back on this journey makes me feel really proud. I still remember the day I walked into MTS. It was just a small, quiet office space, no fancy corporate setup, no established rules. But there was Mr. Park. He wasn’t just a name or a brand; he was more than that. I first met him when I was working at BV, and I saw something special in him. Despite other tempting corporate offers, I chose to join MTS only because of Mr. Park. His dedication, his drive, inspired me like nothing else.

MTS, originally Mr. Park’s family business, thrived on the principle that strong teamwork and a culture of happiness are the keys to success. I endeavored to establish a workplace at MTS that was fair, respectful, safe, and healthy. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of encountering another two remarkable leaders—Mr. Rao and Dr. Karthik—who have profoundly influenced my mindset, work ethic, and proactive approach.

During my MTS era, I was blessed by Mr. Rao, a leader who not only directed my professional path but also acted as a mentor, guiding me through challenges as if he were part of my own family. His constant motivation pushed me to surpass obstacles and strive for excellence.

Three years ago, MTS merged with Eurofins, a world leader in the TIC sector. Eurofins operates a diverse range of product quality and safety testing laboratories, covering areas such as environmental testing, consumer safety, sustainability testing, and more. Eurofins MTS is committed to softening our environmental footprint and promoting a healthy and sustainable environment by its innovative approaches.

And in Eurofins, now, I’m working with Dr. Karthik, an iconic figure. His visionary and proactive approach to tackling challenges has instilled in me a newfound sense of determination and aggression towards my work. In Dr. Karthik, I see the epitome of corporate leadership, and I feel incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to learn and grow under his guidance.

Honestly, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been influenced by these three exceptional bosses throughout my 15-year career journey. However, during this time, I’ve experienced many ups and downs, but I always embrace challenges. I give my best effort to tackle them. This approach has helped the company grow and succeed, while also helping me grow personally and professionally.

Moreover, the friendships I’ve made with coworkers, clients, and partners have been really important to me. Working with skilled people who care about doing good testing has made my job enjoyable every day.

It creates a lot of jobs, helps with exports, and makes the economy grow. Everyone’s hard work and effort has made Bangladesh one of the world’s top places for making textiles.
