‘Fashion Tech Week’ (FTW), Dhaka starts with a bang

The first-ever edition of ‘Fashion Tech Week’ (FTW), Dhaka, kicked off today (15th May) at Radisson Blu, Dhaka with a bang as the first day of the two day long event witnessed a large number of avid visitors from the Readymade Garment (RMG) industry.

Organised by Apparel Resources India, FTW has opened the doors to the exciting world of fashion tech, with the theme revolving around the four pillars of Explore, Learn, Collaborate and Network.

The event has proven to be a successful platform for Bangladesh’s RMG industry and global tech companies as everyone, from the top management to mid-level professionals from the RMG industry had an opportunity to deep dive in the latest technology with live demos of on-demand manufacturing, Industry 4.0, predictive analytics, trend forecasting, virtual fitting rooms, customer engagement and experiential buying through technologies like AI/ML/AR/VR, 3D, IoT, edge computing, blockchain, smart textiles robotics and more.

Highly impressed and satisfied with the event, Maisha Abdullah, Director, Mitali Group, one of the leading RMG groups of the country shared his experience, “To achieve our export target and to remain competitive, our industry needs to increase the focus on the latest technology. And an event like FTW is really a great initiative by Apparel Resources as it would help the industry to be more familiar with the latest technology and benefit from using the same.”

Fittingly, another leading RMG exporter, Maashed R. Abdullah, Director of Dressmen Ltd said that these types of events are really necessary in Bangladesh. It’s a very good opportunity for the RMG industry to gain insightful knowledge regarding technology.

A few of the leading tech companies participating at the event are CLO Virtual Fashion, Solvei8, Pakiza Software Limited, Logic Software Limited, Jaza Software, BlueKaktus, Tukatech, r-pac and Dark- Kak

The first day also witnessed interesting and thought provoking discussions on various burning topics, among which were — Traceability for Ensuring Sustainability; Real Time Data: A Digital Transformation Roadmap for Manufacturing; AI Revolution in Sourcing: The Next Big Thing

Speakers at the panel discussions, stalwarts of the RMG industry, underlined the increasing adoption of real-time production monitoring in garment factories worldwide. Aiming to enhance efficiency, productivity and product quality across all operations, the diverse methods for recording real-time production and strategies for digitising manufacturing floors, evolving landscape of manufacturing technology and many more similar issues were discussed at length and in much detail.

The event continues on 16th May as well.
