Textile Focus: Tell us about the inspiration from which you have joined the industry.

Kamal Hossain: As this is our family business and the head of the company, Mr. A. K. Azad, is my uncle, he suggested that I join the industry after graduation. During the first six months, I learned merchandising in the office and worked in every department for 3-6 months. After that, I worked in the office as the head of documents for three years. After learning from there, I contributed to one of our factories in Tongi, BICIC. Then I worked in the head office, and I was in charge of one unit in that’s it sportswear. Last three years I have been in the factory. Besides this, my uncle has always taught me how to do everything. That’s how I have stepped into the industry.

Textile Focus: What’s your opinion about the second generation leading the industry?

Kamal Hossain: The first generation struggled to make the platform, and we, the second generation, have the opportunity to develop the industry more and more. We can do it with the help of the first generation. If we combine our strengths with the experience of the first generation, we can move forward swiftly.

Textile Focus: Some people think that the second generation is a threat to the industry. What’s your opinion about it?

Kamal Hossain: I don’t think the second generation is a threat. We are still working with the first generation, and we can grow with the experience of the first generation. Their guidance is helping us to move forward and develop the industry.

Textile Focus: What’s your role in Explore Garments Ltd and Shahzaib Washing and Dyeing Ltd?

Kamal Hossain: I am the Managing Director of the Explore Garments Ltd and Shahzaib Washing and Dyeing Ltd. I do the overall management of the industry and report to the head office of the group. The senior management of the group gives us guidance and direction on how we should do our business.

Textile Focus: What challenges are you facing in this situation, as it’s your new factory?

Kamal Hossain: In this situation, we have survived because our group is extensive. Otherwise, it may be challenging for us to survive. This is because of the Ukraine-Russia war. Another problem is the need for more workers.

Textile Focus: What’s the speciality of your factory from others?

Kamal Hossain: We built it as a modern factory. As for our recent factory, we have tried to build it using all modern technology.

Textile Focus: What’s your future platform’s further contribution to the industry?

Kamal Hossain: As of now, the order quantity is less; we are focusing on getting more orders. When the market situation is all right, we will target to improve our lacking.

Textile Focus: What’s your message to those who want to join the industry now?

Kamal Hossain: As it requires a considerable investment, it will take much work for the newcomer to establish an industry. But people have to take challenges. Whoever is ready to take on challenges can be successful. An honest and hard-working person can be successful. Though we are facing a crisis in this situation, there are still opportunities to grow.

Textile Focus: What’s your message for the upcoming situation as an industrialist? Kamal Hossain: We are hoping for a better situation to develop more. The economy of Bangladesh relies on the garments sector. Many people are related to this sector and dependent on it for their living. For moving forward, we need more orders. We are hoping to get more changes when the war situation is okay.
