LEED Platinum & Gold Certificates handed over to Comfit Composite Knit Ltd

360 TSL is pleased to announce that, ‘Comfit Composite Knit Ltd’, a concern of Youth Group and a leading garments manufacturing facility in Tangail, Bangladesh is honored with LEED Platinum and LEED Gold Certifications for Comfit Eco Ville and Comfit Banana Leaf respectively under LEED Campus project in Recognition of Sustainability Leadership and it’s an official recognition by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for achieving the esteemed LEED Platinum and LEED Gold certifications. This milestone showcased ‘Comfit Composite Knit Ltd.’s dedication to sustainable practices and its commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Comfit Composite Knit Ltd. takes immense pride in achieving LEED Platinum certification for Comfit Eco Ville with 85 LEED points and LEED Gold certification for Comfit Banana Leaf with 73 LEED points marking a significant milestone in Comfit journey towards environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Prior to these Comfit also have two more projects with LEED Gold certifications and they are Comfit Green Leaf and Comfit Maple Leaf. This achievement underscores Comfit Composite Knit Ltd.’s unwavering commitment to creating a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Mr. Arif Ainul Suman, Group Chief Executive Director did the introductions of the Comfit Composite Knit Ltd. and stated that, Comfit is very much aligned with 17 SDG goals with its 15,000 employees and focusing on sustainability in all policies and activities. He said, we installed 2 MW Solar in our premises and 3 MW will be followed soon to became Energy Neutral.

Mr. Anis Salahuddin Ahmed, Chairman, Youth Group said “Receiving the LEED Platinum and LEED Gold certifications is a significant achievement for Comfit Composite Knit Ltd., and it reflects its ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Akbor Haider Munna, Vice Chairman, Youth Group stated his pride in elevating Bangladesh’s position on the global stage. He said, “Among the many sustainability initiatives, we focused on the rainwater storing system under the garden on the factory premises and its diversified usage in the factory. Also, we have a rooftop solar power system.”

“Carbon emission can be identified as our planet’s number one enemy. Reducing carbon from the environment is a global challenge. Despite being a garment factory, our commitment to our planet’s wellbeing and safety is uncompromising. Our buyers and vendors, are both equally concerned deeply about our environment. Going Green, will not only ensure reducing energy and water usage along with lower operating costs but also improved indoor air quality and increased employee productivity,” added Akbor Haider Munna.

Mrs. Latifa Rahman, Head of Comfit Composite Knit Ltd. said, now we got recognitions and our responsibility became more to keep our sustainability practices on going and be part of the solutions of global warming and climate change. 

Mr. Amal Krishna Sarker, General Manager, Maintenance and Engineering and Project’s LEED coordinator said, we would like to thanks to Mr. Ananta Ahmed & 360 TSL for there guidance and ongoing supports to complete the process in a meaningful way.

Ananta Ahmed, International Green Building Expert, LEED AP, USGBC Faculty and the Principal LEED Consultant of 360 TSL was moderated the program. He said, “LEED is not just a certificate; it is the most effective business management system if we understand and follow. Benefits are very high and could not be ignore”. Comfit Composite Knit Ltd. is the shining example of that. He also said, “If we understand LEED Green Building Concepts in a factual way, the cost is not an issue and if we analyze the costs and benefits in a meaningful way, we will see LEED Green Building Cost lees then regular buildings and create PROFIT.”
