Walmart Announces Plans to Meet the Changing Needs of Customers this Holiday Shopping Season

walmartAccording to Judith McKenna, CEO of Walmart International, the e-commerce company is prioritizing the holiday season across major markets, including India, as online sales grow globally and in the US.

Walmart is also on pace to surpass $75 billion in global ecommerce sales by the end of the year. In its international markets, the e-tailer saw strong sales growth in Flipkart (India), as well as Mexico and China. It is focusing on the Big Billion Day sales in India, which take place during the Diwali festival in early November.

Walmart Inc. President and CEO Doug McMillon stated that Flipkart had another successful quarter. During the quarter, total revenues increased by 2.4 percent to $141 billion, while ecommerce sales in the United States increased by 6%. Ecommerce sales in India increased by 25% to $38 billion in FY21, and are expected to increase by more than 30% in the current fiscal year.
